The PicDongle 12A series dongles are miniature, microprocessor controlled data acquisition hardware packages with 8 A/D converter input channels that outputs a ASCII datastream. The PicDongle samples and processes 8 channels of analog at 12 bit resolution completely under control of the onboard RISC microcontroller. The host PC ( IBM PC, Mac, UNIX or other computer with a standard RS232-E serial interface ) is completely unburdened with control and processing of the analog signals. You can use as many PicDongles as you have serial ports. You don't need any special software on your host PC to use the PicDongle, just read the com port with any software that talks to the serial port.
For more information see the PicDongle 12A series users' guide. A special version of SiliconSoft's turnkey DacqEditor (specs) or low level microcontroller programming software packages will be available separately.
The PicDongle Program Development Environment lets you quickly design, test and program your PicDongle for custom signal acquisition and processing code. Add real-time filtering, transducer linearization, adaptive sample rates and other special processes without loading down your host PC. The PicDongle programmable models contain an EEprom to store basic control A/D and signal processing parameters. Just send an ASCII string to the PicDongle to change sample rate, baud rate, or signal processing parameters.
Nothing like the PicDongle is available from other manufactures.
You can measure temperatures, pressures, voltages, currents. Add external resistors to extend the voltage. Easy to use and light weight. So you can take the PicDongle any where you go with your PC. No batteries needed. Works with 9 or 25 pin RS232-E ports.
You can't buy a better, smaller, more rugged, microcontroller based data acquisition module. You can easily take these PicDongles along with you any where you take your PC - even if it is a palmtop!
