The SugarCube is a microsized fully contained data logger. The product is a complete data logging system which includes the SugarCube, Software, and IRTDongle (it connects to your computer serial port to communicate with the SugarCube), was designed for those applications that need a very small, portable, turnkey, easy-to-use data logger.
The SugarCube data logger series is available for a variety of tasks, each with a built-in wireless infrared interface. The most popular size is about the size of a cube of sugar and weigh only about 1/3 ounce. Different SugarCube models can precisely measure temperature, voltage, humidity, current, pressure, or light. Up to 8 channels of information with timestamps. The SugarCube contains a state-of-the-art: CMOS RISC Microcontroller, Analog to Digital Converter, Infrared Interface, EEPROM Memory of 2 kB to 128 kB or more, Lithium Battery and Data Sensor(s) to give a total micropower solution to the data logger operations.
Set sample rates | Set alarm limits |
Save data and export to spread sheets and data bases | Add measurement notes to data sample |
Write protect stored data or wrap memory |
The software will automatically find and link with a SugarCube. Each SugarCube has a unique serial number so you can program and retrieve data from any one unit. Each SugarCube provides its model and serial number data, its available memory left for sampling, the last sample taken, and the percentage of remaining battery life available, along with all data in its nonvolatile memory. The software provides automatic display scaling with a time-stamped indication of any data point in memory. Real time measurement and display of data is also possible.
Extremely small - 1/4 cubic inch | Very lightweight - 1/3 ounce |
Exclusive "battery Capacity Gauge" | Recording operation up to 24 months |
EEPROM data memory from 2K to 128K | Selectable sampling intervals from 1/sec to 1/24 hours |
LED status light verifies programming operation and alarms | Infrared LED data transfer and programming control links |
Time-stamped measurements | Rugged construction for harsh environment use |
Battery shelf life up to 5 years | Battery operating life 100,000 readings minimum (Lithium battery) |
Optical link range 1 foot (typical) | Serial number and tracking text comments |
The PC to host infrared transceiver link to the SugarCube is handled by the IRTDongle. It is a small (2.75"x1.25"x0.9") light weight device that can connect directly to a palm top parallel or serial port, or through a cable to either port of a standard PC. The IRTDongle is used to link with remote SugarCubes within the "cone of vision" for each IR transmitter and receiver.
